Jason Nuell, the regional Vice President of Marriott International in Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific, says the hotel meets the needs of business and leisure travelers.

The Sheraton brand has expanded into Papua New Guinea with its debut at the country’s largest hotel, now rebranded as the Sheraton Port Moresby Stanley Hotel & Suites. Located in Waigani, the property, formerly known as The Stanley Hotel and Suites, has completed a full rebranding alongside upgrades to its guest rooms, dining options, and lobby space.

The hotel has been designed to support a wide range of travelers, from short-term business stays to extended visits and family travel. Jason Nuell, the regional Vice President of Marriott International in Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific, says the hotel meets the needs of business and leisure travelers.

New Amenities and Services

A new Sheraton Club and the opening of the hotel’s &More by Sheraton Cafe are among the changes. The cafe is a blend of coffee shop, market stall, and laid-back bar, designed to cater to everything from morning coffee to evening cocktails.

The lobby has been reworked as a large open space to promote social interaction, anchored by Sheraton’s signature Community Table, a purpose-built workspace where guests can work, gather, eat, and drink. Soundproof booths offer quiet spaces with privacy.

Accommodations and Amenities

The hotel features 284 guest rooms, 15 suites, and 95 apartments. It also offers 2,500 square meters of event and meeting space, four restaurants, a swimming pool, and a fitness center. The restaurants include Silver Leaf, a fine-dining venue with sweeping city views, and Greenhaus, a buffet-style restaurant open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Shin Ching, the hotel’s General Manager, described the hotel’s opening as an important milestone for PNG’s hospitality sector. The hotel is owned by Dynasty Development Limited, a subsidiary of the Rimbunan Hijau (RH) PNG Group, which also has interests in forestry and timber processing in PNG.

The hotel’s location, on Sir John Guise Drive in Waigani, connects it to Vision City shopping mall and is just minutes from Jacksons International Airport. Nuell says the property is placed at the center of activity in the city, with strong opportunities for business, industry, and community connection.

Marriott International’s Commitment

The opening reflects Marriott International’s long-term commitment to growing across the Pacific and investing in destinations that are evolving as important hubs for business, government, and regional connectivity. The hotel is part of Marriott International’s portfolio of more than 30 hotel brands.

Locals and leisure travelers will enjoy the hotel’s selection of restaurants and bars. The hotel is suitable for short-term or long-term stays and is aligned with the Marriott portfolio of properties.
